Danses dans le mode de Si
The Danses dans le mode de Si form a small suite of seven short and contrasted dances, each having its own specific character. They are entirely written using the white keys of the keyboard, in the modal scale starting on B (also called the locrian mode).
The first version for piano duet was composed in 1988, and slightly revised in 1993. It was first performed by the twin sisters Alexandra and Laetitia Ectors during a concert of XXth Century Music at the Conservatoire Royal de Bruxelles in 1994.
In 1999, a new version was made for 2 pianos, 4 hands and finally a further version for string orchestra in 2003.
