Fantaisie anachronique sur "Le Temps des Cerises"

for voice, cello and piano (2018)

This unusual arrangement for voice, cello and piano was commissioned for a choir concert of pieces dealing with the thematic of 'time'.

Le Temps des Cerises is a quite famous and popular French song of 1868 of Antoine Renard with lyrics by Jean-Baptiste Clément. The four verses of the song alternate with freely composed episodes for cello and piano written in different styles, giving to the whole piece an intemporal frame for this immortal song.

This anachronistic fantasy was premiered on the 27th october 2018 in Bercheux (Belgium) by Nicolas Deletaille (cello), Laurent Beeckmans (piano) and the choir Les Appassionati conducted by Jean-Marie Aubry.
