Transcriptions
The works listed on this page could also be denoted by the word "arrangements". However, the difference is that the transcriptions are totally respectful of the form, the notes, the rhythms as well as the harmony of the original pieces.
But they are not either thoughtless literal copies from one medium to another : each of them is the result of a careful and sometimes challenging process of adapting the original notes, taking into account the technical and acoustic characteristics of the new instruments in order to preserve both the character and the spirit of the music. It is in this way that a faithful transcription can be seen as a highly creative act, even difficult and delicate to realize than an original composition.
