Percy Grainger - Mock Morris
Dished up for 2 pianos 4 hands (2000)
Percy Grainger composed Mock Morris in 1910 for string orchestra and dished-it up the same year for two pianos. This version was only published in 1993 under the title Always Merry and Bright that had been given to it by his mother Rose. Obviously, Grainger's version was written to be played by himself and Rose, this explaining why the first piano part (played by Grainger) is much more difficult than the second one.
For this reason, I made in 2000 a new version for two pianos in which the difficulties would be more equally shared by both players. I choose to put on the score the more familiar title Mock Morris to keep the distinction clear between Grainger's dishing-up and my own version.
